Fleet Customers, Municipalities, Corporate Entities, Public Transport Vehicles and private individuals can all benefit by converting their vehicles to operate on CNG. The financial benefits of using gas and the environmental benefits outweigh the investment required to convert the vehicle to use CNG.

NOVO provides customised, integrated and turnkey natural gas solutions to its customers in the Transport, Industrial, Domestic, Commercial and Power Generation segments using Compressed Natural Gas Technology. These solutions include Gas Supply, Gas Infrastructure and tailored Customer Solutions and Services.

Fleet Customers, Municipalities, Corporate Entities, Public Transport Vehicles and private individuals can all benefit by converting their vehicles to operate on CNG. The financial benefits of using gas and the environmental benefits outweigh the investment required to convert the vehicle to use CNG. Converted Natural Gas Vehicle owners can immediately reap the benefits from using gas from our network of Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Gas Dispensing stations located throughout Gauteng with expansions planned for the Freestate and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.

NOVO has the following list of operational dispensing stations:

On-line natural gas dispensing station operating in Germiston, Gauteng.
A landfill gas to vehicle facility, including an on-site dispensing station for refuelling vehicles.
Large on pipeline commercial compression and dispensing facility in Lincoln Road, Benoni which came on-line on the 27th November 2012. The facility has a capacity of 850 Nm3/hour. The station has a capability to refuel a dedicated fleet of more than 1,000 minibus taxis. Alternatively approximately 250,000 GJ/a can be moved offsite for other applications.
For vehicular application at large fleet depots e.g. Municipalities, Bus Operators, Commercial Vehicles and Heavy Duty Vehicles, NOVO Energy is able to supply gas and establish infrastructure on your premises to refuel vehicles.

What is NGV?:

Most internal combustion engines, diesel or petrol can convert to use CNG. A converted vehicle is commonly known as a Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV).

There are 3 types of NGVs namely:

Dedicated NGV: These are vehicles designed and manufactured by the manufacturers (e.g. Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Ford, Honda, General Motors and Toyota) or existing can be converted, to only use natural gas as vehicle fuel.

Bi-fuel NGV: These are petrol vehicles that have been converted from using petrol to using either petrol OR natural gas.

Dual-fuel NGV: These are diesel vehicles that have been converted from using diesel only, to using either diesel or a combination of diesel AND natural gas. Within diesel vehicles a small amount of diesel is required with the natural gas to ensure the ignition of fuel.

Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) technology is well established around the world and a number of countries have developed extensive refuelling and vehicle conversion infrastructure. A NGV is a vehicle that is fuelled through Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or through Liquefied Natural gas (LNG). In the NGV, natural gas is stored in a cylinder that is under pressure (250 bar). This cylinder is stored in the rear, undercarriage or on the roof of the vehicle. When natural gas is required by the vehicle, it leaves the cylinders, travels through a high-pressure fuel regulator into the engine compartment. Here it is injected at atmospheric pressure into the engine’s combustion chamber and is ignited to create the power required to drive the vehicle.

NOVO Energy operates its own conversion centre and also has service providers that have been trained to perform conversions in compliance to all the relevant standards. All Conversion are signed off by an accredited vehicle practitioner and a Certificate of Compliance is issued for the vehicle.
